public service as his main reasons for seeking reelection Our county taxes are among the lowest in the state and the services our citizens receive have improved steadi he said Ive dedicated a good that I have been particularly happy with the way my candidacy has been received by the local GOP hierarchy but at the same time I have always been true to the principals of my parly and would never change for the sake of political expediency as have some in this I have been admonished to not take a negative posture toward my opponent personally and I have tried hard not to do so but I was disappointed when at our first opportunity to meet oneonone in discussion of the issues my opponent chose to attack me personally If my opponent finds it not to her liking that I have criticized her performance or that of her Court so be it but please let her be reminded that at the very heart of democracy is the citizens right to openly express his or her dissatisfactions with their government I have repeatedly offered to meet in open discussion of the issues She has chosen to ignore my invitations When she is ready to meet in open forum so am I but for now lets set the record straight early on in this campaign Let me say up front that I am not an experienced professional politician I am not as polished in public speaking as my opponent I havent had the advantage of standing before a classroom for years developing my delivery and I am not trained and skilled as an attorney with years practicing how to present things in ways they want them to appear regardless of the facts I am a businessman who has learned the value of honesty dependability the value of the hard earned Taxpayer Dollar and the absolute wisdom of our PEOPLE through years of hard work in the private sector of our economy If she can show me where I have ever criticized the Supreme Court or where I have ever attacked any School District as she claimed on the radio Ill personally gather 500 beer cans from the Guadalupc River which she claims to have cleaned I would also say to my opponent that she indeed knows nothing of what I may or may have not done to contribute to the betterment of my community There arc some of us who do things because they arc because we want or need the ego stroking of public applause This should be a campaign of ISSUES not personal attacks For now lets start with her claim of Fiscal Rcsponsiblity My opponent both as President of the Comal Independent School District and as Comal County Judge claims to have been the protector of the Taxpayer We all know what happened to the School Budget under her leadership so lets look at her first 3 years in Commissioners Court Revenues General Fund Expenses General Fund 1990 1991 1992 1993 NET Revenue Source Official 1993 Comal
