received spe cial training in human rela tions Garcia a 1991 grad uate of Aldine High School In Houston Is married to Kellle daughter of Carol P Johnson of Canyon Lake photos Susan Altum a student at Canyon High School pictured here wHh Rep Frank Tejeda recently witnessed the federal government In action as a participant In Presidential Classrooms 1993 Senior High School Program In Washington Susan along with 364 high school juniors and seniors from 43 states spent a week meeting with government lead ers and transition offi cials learning about the democratic process photo photo SVHS team places third in nation Three members of Smithson Valley High Schools Technology Students Association TSA captured a third place trophy June 27 during a five day national TSA conference in Nashville Tennessee The Control Technology of senior Robert Mueller sophomore Cody Hevner and sophomore Eric Stevens pictured above won Best in Region and Best in which qualified them to represent Texas in Control Tech nology at the National Conference This same team won first place last year in Control Technology at the national conference in Richmond Va Given a problem the team had to build a robotic machine using Fischer Tech nik parts and program it using a com puter and an interface to fulfill the specifications given in the problem The Smithson Valley Team placed third out of 19 teams in the Control Technology category This year over competitors represented 44 states at the national conference Justin Criswell also rep resented SVHS at the national con ference Justin won Best in Region and Best in State in onsite Com puter Aided Drafting Justin went on to enter Engineer ing Graphic Analysis at nationals The first part of this competition consisted of a written test and then the finalists went on to the drawing competition The four students give much credit for their success at the national con ference to the various sponsors who assisted them Needless to say all three returning members of the SVHS Technology Student Association are looking forward to next years com petition and trials Kurt Daum of New Braunfels son of Tammy and Ceretta Daum has earned the distinction of the Deans Honor List for the spring 1 993 semester at the Uni versity of Texas at Austin The College of Communication honor list includes students who have completed 1 2 or more hours of graded work with a grade point average of or higher Arturo Guerrero son of Arturo and Marie Guerrero and graduate of New Braunfels High School was named to the Deans Honor List at the University of Texas at Austin Guerrero earned the designation of Summa Cum Laude which requires more than 52 grade points in at least 13 hours of course work Janalyn Marie Moos daughter of Arnold Fred and Angeline Moos of Garden Ridge graduated from the Uni versity of Texas at San Antonio on May 8 1 993 with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting She is employed with USAA Federal Savings Bank in San Antonio Laura Lorrine Wright a 1992 graduate of Canyon High School was named to the Deans Honor Roll for the 1993 spring semester at Texas Univer sity The honor list for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences includes students who have completed at least 1 3 hours with a grade point average ity University in San Antonio Bums received a master of education degree in school administration photo Don Gann left a New Braunfels High School biology teacher and coach holds a coral snake that he and NBHS Senior Todd Vesells found at the home of Ski and Midge Hanelwlch County Extension Agent Joe Taylor said more snakes In the area Is a direct result of the large amount of rain the area has experi enced thus far In 1993 and said also that It Is breeding season for snakes In South Texas is the daughter of Herb and Jackie Schneider of 411 Hunters Creek Drive Six New Braunfels residents have been named to the Deans List for the spring 1993 semester at Texas Lutheran College They are Jayme Michelle Alexander a sophomore psychology major Lynn E Blair a senior mathe matics major Michelle Ann Duncan a sophomore business administration major Katherine Kennis Kuehler a junior history major Judy Ann Noland a sophomore and Susan Ruppel a senior psychology major To be named to the Deans List students must have a cumulative grade point average with a minimum of 12 graded hours in the past semester Carissa Schneider 13 of New Braun fels was named the Most Athletic Camper during the second weeks session at Hermann Sons Riverside Camp She Stacy Dawn Snider of New Braun fels recently was named to the Deans List at the University of Texas at Austin The College of Business Deans List includes students who have completed 12 hours or more of graded work with an overall grade point average
