With donations, Child Advocacy will be building a community flag to be displayed at Johnson Furniture/ Innerworks Co. Celebrate flag day by purchasing a star for $25 (or more) or a square for $10. The donations can be made In honor of a loved one or simply I as a donation. Your contribution will help show the children of Comal County that you care about them. Comal County Child Advocacy Is a non-profit organization of specially-trained volunteers who, through appointment by the courts, Investigate and advocate for the best Interests of children who are victims of abuse or neglect, or who are Involved In custody disputes. Through friendship and trust, these volunteers, or advocates, become the voice of the child In a system which seldom hears small voices. The meeting was opened with a prayer and 23 members were present. Hostesses were Mary Ann Pusateri and Carol Freimuth. District Deputy Mary Wright was present also.A thank you note from the Crisis Pregnancy Center was read regarding our latest donation.CDA was asked to help with the reception for Bill Schroeder who will be ordained a Deacon on September 12. There will be a pot-luck dinner after the 11:15 Mass on Sunday, September 19 at St Marys Hall.Our scholarships were given at the graduation breakfast in honor of our Parish Seniors. NBISD recipient was Carrie Friesenhahn, daughter of Johnny and Karen Friesenhahn, and CISD recipient was La wren Klein daughter of Larry and Jean Klein.The priests and Deacons appreciation dinner will be June 8 at St Mary's Hall, with a 6:30 mass and supper to follow.Msgr. Bily cel ebrated mass following the installation of the new officers.Gay Forties Club Merriment in May was evident at the Faust Hotel when members and guests were entertained by Dr. Rose-Mary Rumbley, a teacher form the University of North Texas, guest speaker whose topic was Texas Trivia. Her humorous accounts of Texas history led to outbursts of laughter and she was honored with a standing ovation.Arlene Seales, social chairman, was assisted by Karen Boyd, Ann Burrus, Betty Ann Davis, Myra Lee Goff, Kathleen Krueger apd JoAnn Robinett Bright colored floral arrangements were on each table, with a Texas wreath on the speaker's table.Felger and Friends Blayne Council and Vicki Felger, of Felger and Friends, recently attended Armstrong and McCall’s Education Symposium in Austin May 16 -19. On completion of Phase I they will be certified educators for Matrix Essentials. Chemical procedures, techniques, and formulations in hair coloring and perming were covered. Training also included the new Matrix skin care and makeup line.
