Carroll John Huaeth The New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung announced two staff additions and one promotion this week. Herald-Zeitung Advertising Director Dee Dee Crockett announced the hiring erf*Shelly Boff-Womack to the sales staff effective this past Monday. Shelly is a native of New Braunfels and is a 1988 graduate of Canyon High School. She was formerly employed by the San Marcos Daily Record as a sales representative. She will be working in general sales and special sections sales. Managing editor Mark Lyon announced the promotion of Gary P. Carroll to news editor. Carroll has been a staff writer for the Herald-Zeitung for the last six months after graduating from Texas A&M with degrees in journalism and psychology in early December, 1992. “Gary has shown the desire and capability to be a fine news editor,” said Lyon. “He has a good working knowledge of what is going on in our community and brings to the table a solid work ethic. He will do well,” Lyon also announced the hiring of John Huseth as staff photographer effective this week. Huseth, who was the Herald-Zeitungfs staff photographer from early 1992 through February 1993, has returned to the staff in the same position. He is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in photojournalism. “John has an excellent eye for news and feature photojournalism,” Lyon said. “Sometimes the best stories are told through photos and John’s photos quite often tell it like it is." Karla Wenzel, also a photographer for the newspaper, will maintain a part-time position while working on two private business projects. Services are scheduled for Friday, May 28 at 2 p.m. at the Doep-penschmidt Funeral Home In New Braunfels conducted by the Rev. Fred Martin of New Braunfels, with burial to follow at the Bunton Cemetery In Dale, Texas at 4 p.m. Mrs. Langendorff, the daughter of Elijah Thomas Lackey and Mary Ionia Moore, bom Dec. 11,1906, was preceded in death by her husband J.C. Langendorff Sr who died in 1980. Mrs. Langendorff was a member of the First United Methods! Church, a member of the New Braunfels Retired Teachers Association, the Mission Valley Homemakers Club, Order of the Eastern Star Chapters #35 and #771, the Mary Circle of the First United MEthodist Church. Mrs. Langendorff taught school in Comal County at Mision Valley School from 1929 to 1934, in Bexar County rural schools from 1934 to 1956 and at Northeast I.S.D. in San Antonio form 1956 to 1968 before retiring from Goodwin Primary after teaching there from 1968 to 1971. Mrs. Langendorff is survived by her son John Clifton Langendorff Jr and Ns wife Jean of New Braunfels, brother Charlie T. Lackey of New Braunfels and dose friend Jerry Thwing of New Braunfels. Mrs. Langendorff also was survived by four grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Visitation wi continue through Friday up until service time. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church.Fred Bordure Mr. Fred Bombers of New Braunfels (fed Wednesday, May 26,1993 at the age of 84. Services are scheduled for today at 2 p.m. with a graveside service to be held at the Comal Cemetery. Services wit be conducted by the Rev. Dave Schulte of New Braunfels. Mr. Botchers, the son of Bern-hard Botchers and Emma Dedeke, was a retired farmer and a United States Army veteran of World War ll. Mr. Botchers was survived by five sisters; Helen Botchers of Chicago. Illinois, Alma Vogel of McQueeney, Linda Botchers, Hilda Georg, and Bertha Krueger al of New Braunfels.
