New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - February 25, 1993, New Braunfels, Texas 13 HERALD-ZEITUNG THURSDAY, FEBRUARY JIB, 1993 I- " v*    f*    **    **-*!«,    ■‘X    ‘    '    • • /*- ,v „    •#. " NB Baseball Continued from • Morales (who’s coming from basketball) was my second baseman at the end of the year last year, but so far Albert Villarreal, who was my shortstop last year, has done a tally good job at second. Jeff Gonzales has been playing short and he’s done a good job. There are a lot of guys that can move around. Joe Esquivel can play third, first or second, Albert can play second, short or third, Erie can play the same three position, Jeff Gonzales can probably play just about anywhere except maybe first I’ve got a lot of flexibility with where I jean play those guys with a lot of confidence." Lieke and Borgfeld return to the mound for the Unicorns, but Lieke developed a sore elbow against Lanier and had to exit the game in the first inning. Miller said Lieke will probably be OK with some rest. In addition to Lieke and Borgfeld, Chris Gonzales, Jeff Gonzales, David Gomez and Sal Diaz will also do some pitching. Miller said C. Gonzales is coming along well and that Martinez, can pitch as well. He added that in case of an emergency, there are a couple of JV pitchers that could help. Senior Jamie Crowder returns to catch, while outfielders J. Juarez and Jason Owens will back him up. Senior Jaye Garza returns to lead an outfielder corps consisting of J. Juarez, Sal Diaz, Owens and Raymond Juarez. Martinez, Lieke, Gomez and Morales can also play in the outfield. Miller said the Unicorns will compete hard against everyone they play this season. "We finished the year (1992) winning our last three ballgames, so realty we’re looking at this as four in a row rather than just winning the opener,” Miller said. "We’re going to tiy and extend on how we finished last year and I think the kids kind of see that too.” I Statistics PITCHING Brant Bury (eld, 3-7,2.11 ERA, 10G. 06.1 IP, 47 K, 23 BB. You’ve probably heard that you should wait for a full load to do your washing. But what you might not have heard is that when you do the laundry is as important as how many loads you do. Because doing your laundry late in the evening or in the middle of the day can help PEC avoid “peaks” in power consumption. Peaks occur when most people are home running their major appliances at the same time. These peaks cause higher costs for generating power, costs that are reflected on all of our electric bills. We can avoid peaks through voluntary load management, which is simply limiting your use of major appliances during the peak hours of 5:00 to 10:00 in the morning. Major energy users in your home are the water heater, dishwasher, washer, dryer, and most importandy, your heating and cooling system. So take a shower at night, do the dishes in the evening, leave the laundry until later. You can use the same amount of energy as before, outside of peak hours, and still help control future energy costs. Because if we can reduce peaks, we can help avoid having to build new power plants in the future. That’s a billion dollar reason worth waiting for. Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc.
