(Photo by Bill Ervin) Christmas market slated this month The Weihnachtsmarkt, German for Christmas market, is slated this year for Nov. 22-23 from IO arn. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Civic Center in New Braunfels. More than 50 booths of unique holiday gifts will be on display at this holiday bazaar, modeled after the old German open-air Christmas markets. Clothes, toys, antiques, paintings, food items, jewelry, flowers and decorative and household items will be available. A majority of the booths are operated by independent retailers and artisans. Some of the unusual items the market features arc Victorian Christmas ornaments and German products such as nutcrackers, ornaments and food. The market benefits the Sophien-burg Museum and Archives in New Braunfels. Admission is $3, good for all three days. Children under IO enter free. A roundtrip airline ticket to Germany on Lufthansa Airlines will be auctioned at the event along with two roundtrip tickets to New Orleans. Two season passes to Schlitterbahn and cash prizes also will be auctioned off. Tuesday, Nov. 12 • Justice Jack Hightower, Texas Supreme Court justice, will be the guest of honor of the William High-lower Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, at Finkel’s Salad Bar and Grill at 6:30 p.m. Hightower will make a presentation titled ‘Texas Home Front Battles in the Civil War.” Call 625-4063 or 625-8110. • The Christian Women’s Club will meet from noon to 2 p.m. at the Woodlands Country Club in Startzvil-le. A “Winter Warm-UpH fashion show, featuring suedes and leathers, will be presented by Jindo Furs. Special music will be provided by Jonni Doeppenschmidt. The speaker will be Peggy Powell of Dallas.
