So Wetz latei took the letter to Schwab’s Tree Care, owned by Bruno Schwab. Office Manager Sue Kolath said the office responded to Zech’s letter in August last year. ! “It just so happens that we receive a hionthly magazine called Texas Farmer. Ann Richards as placing in the highest. percentage overall of the 50 grant funded task force projects in the state, said Comal County Sheriff Jack Bremer, executive director of the task force. The AANTF is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional drug law enforcement program. The task force is entering its second full year as a grant funded project of the Texas Narcotics New Braunfels and Fredericksburg newspapers so he can continue pursuing a penpal relationship. “Since he heard from us, he’s done some more studying and he absolutely wants to visit the Hill Country,” Kolath said. William W. “Bill” Goodwin assumed command of the 49th Armored Division, 4th Batallion, 133rd Field Artillery unit of the Texas National Guard. Outgoing Commander Ll. Col. Richard W. Nichols was presented with a plaque by the troops honoring his service in New Braunfels. Nichols served 34 months as commander of the local unit of the National Guard, he said. “You’ve always been known as an outstanding battalion — you’ve done some good things,” said Rcnaldo Sanchez, troop commander of the Texas National Guard. “Good units need good leaders and you’ve been very fortunate to have Ll. Col. Nichols.” Sanchez said that Ll. Col Goodwin would continue the unit’s tradition of excellence and leadership. It was pointed out that during Operation Desert Storm, field artillery played a very important part in neutralizing Iraqi forces. The New Braunfels guard unit was within three days of deployment to Saudi Arabia when the operation ended, he said. “There is always someone junior to you who you’re responsible to to show the way — to show the right way,” Goodwin said. “We will meet these standards and I will help you to achieve. All you have to do is apply yourself.” Goodwin said that for physical training “we will all run together,” and that assistance will be given to troops having trouble with weight control “so no man has to leave for cither one of these reasons.” “I set the standards first and don’t ask anymore of you than that,” he said. “We will continue to be the best battalion in this slate.” The National Guard functions as a backup reserve to the active military and can be called into active service in & System A/C Duct & by* Cleaning & Sterilization For Mold, Dust Mites, Poller INTERIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES Call now for Frat Estimate 629-4161 Safest Custom Upholstery & Draperies as well as custom-made bedspreads & pillow shams at the Seguin Mattress Factory We upholster: Boat sen is.
