(Photo by Karla Wenzel) Charles Billings, is joined with his wife, Peggy, before he was bestowed with the honorary degree of Knight of the Order of San Jacinto, a mark of honor originated and established by Gen. Sam Houston in 1843. The recent investiture ceremony was held in Nacogdoches. Billings was among three people receiving this honor for 1990. Since the Knights of the Order was re-established in 1941, Adm. Chester W. Nimitz.Sen. Dorsey B. Hardeman, Judge William N. Blanton Jr., and Sam Houston IV are just a few of the people receiving the honor.Order of Eastern Star Oaks of memory    Library    gift Two oak trees, one a gift of the Ferdinand Lindheimer Chapter of the Daughter of the Republic of Texas and another from Jeanette Feiger and Marie Offerman, have been planted at Conservation Plaza.
