New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - May 1, 1991, New Braunfels, Texas Page IGA SV- HeraIfrZeltung New Braunfels Texas Wednesday, May 1, 1991 Continued from Pag* SA up to Class 4A, Brown said his team had a very successful season, finishing 16-8. “There aren’t many teams around who have won 16 games The kids have been doing it now for three years — having winning seasons — and it’s a credit to them," Brown said. What knocked the team out of the playoffs, he said, was one-run losses to Bastrop, Hays and Lockhart. “Those three one-run losses are hard, hut it’s just the way it came out,” Brown said. The two seniors hatted 1.000 in their final games at Smithson Valley. Moreno went 3-for-? with three RBls, while Belcher was 2-for-2. “It was a good way for the seniors to end up.” Brown said “It’s good to know we only had two seniors They’ll he missed, hut it will he a lot easier to replace just two next year.” Coming within a game of the playoffs could also aid next year’s team, he said. “That should make the rest of the guys even hungrier. I think winning is contagious. Now they believe they can win and they believe in themselves, and that’s 95 percent of the game light there.” he said.
