New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - February 22, 1991, New Braunfels, Texas Continued from Pogo S the world, both post history and today, lies in the sinful heart of man. For 2000 years the preaching of the cross has proved the power of God unto salvation to everyone that . believes and there is nothing else that ' can substantially save. In every land in the world today are to be found new men with new hearts, new purposes, and an altogether new love to other men. But solemn as the truth may be, He . who intervened at Calvary, will intervene again. The Man of Olivary, .now the gracious saviour in the glory, • will come again in all the power and majesty of His eternal Godhead, in * “judgment” upon those who have rejected Him! For we dare not conclude that just because God in His long-suffering mercy and patience has often stopped wars, famines, pestilences, etc. that He will always do so. There has to be a limit. And the state of the world today shows that is like it was in the days of Noah, when men had corrupted their ways so that “the earth was filled with violence" and men would not harken to the preaching of Noah. God warned them, "My Spirit will not always strive with man .... I will cause it to rain 40 days and 40 nights, and every lining substance that I have made will I destroy." Referring back to this, the Lord Jesus said, "As in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and given in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away so shall the coming of the Son of Man be." Dear unsave soul, the present "perilous times" and "day of slaughter" (Jas. 5) are but the preliminaries. "The coming of the Lord draweth nigh." This is no ordinary war. God is speaking to man today. He is demanding a hearing, to remind us that the end of the present order is at hand. He says, “I will ov erturn, overturn, overturn ... until He come." (Ezek. 21:27) he would have man tremble and repent, and turn to Him in their great extremity, that in the midst of death they would seek life, as they had never done in the midst of pleasure and prosperity. Friend, He lingers in long-suffering patience, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (II Peter 3:9) Thus he bears with a world that deserves only judgment. His mercy still cries, “Now is the day of salvation." But “when once the Master of the house rises up and shuts the door and you begin to stand without, and knock at the door, saying Lord, Lord, open unto us; and He shall answer and say unto you, I know you not." (Luke 13:25). “Why should you do without Him? It is not yet too late; He has not closed the day of grace, He has not shut the gate." _American Hearing Association^^ Amahl and the Night Visitors Presentations of the Texas Lutheran College production of 'Amahl and the Night Visitors'will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Weinert Chapel on the TLO campus in Seguin.
