Garcia could order her jailed Parks and Mrs Smith s other attorney Stanley Bernstein have said they are concern ed she may he a target in the lengthy federal in vestigation of circumstances surrounding her husband s death and a string of vigilante acts that occurred before he w as killed During the open portion of Friday s hearing Parks sought assurance from Garcia that a person s secondhand knowledge of a crim* could not lead to a charge of misprison of a felony or accessory' the fact Misprison of a felony is when a person knows of a crime hut fails to report it to authorities At least during the open portion of the hear mg Parks did not receive the assurances he sought Parks also said some of the questions being posed before the federal grand jury had been answered by his client during an appearance before a state grand jury earlier this year Such questions he said led him to believe th** federal government may be trying to get Mrs Smith to perjure herself Garcia denied three motions by Mrs ->mith s attorneys One would hav** allowed the woman to review transcripts of her state grand jury testimony prior to answering more questions before the federal grand jury Another motion would have protected her from being asked certain questions Dot »*n Liquid propane r i t\ unit iM Alicia G.
