Texas Wednesday December 9 1987 Symphony names new concertmaster Donna Role of San Antonio has been named concertmaster of the Mid-Texas Symphony Orchestra and will serve in that position for the Dec 13 concert at the Civic ( enter in New Braunfels Role currently is a violin instructor at the University of Texas at San Antonio and is the concertmaster for both the Victoria Symphony and the Laredo Philharmonic In addition she is string coach tor the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio and spends her summers in Chautauqua N V where she is a member of the Chautauqua Symphony Formerly she was the concert master for the Corpus Christi Symphony and was on the faculty of Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Austria She appeared with the Mid Texas Symphony as guest artist during the 1983-84 season Sponsored by the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of New Braunfels, the 4pm concert will feature several excerpts from the Christmas portion of Handel's “Messiah” performed by the Mid Texas Symphony Orchestra and Chorus Also on the afternoon pro gram will be selections from The Nutcracker Suite «1 and various carols and Christmas pop tunes Conductor for the concert will be Donna Role Jay Dean of Austin music director of the Austin Civic Chorus Tickets for the performance mas be purchased tit Krause Bookstore ami Rogers Music in New Braunfels and at the Mid Texas Symphony of flee and Shanoah Frame shop in Seguin rickets will t>e available also at the door on the afternoon of the concert They are priced at $7 *o tor adults Sa for senior citizens and col loge age students and $2 H) for children high school age and under Cast of the Gifts of the Magi include standing from left direr tor Julia Cammack Pat Arnold Bill School fah and Wade Iv, seated, assistant director George Willis Scott Reynolds Bol hie Hiliner, Orohe Gubser and technical director Emu Friesenhahn STAGE presenting a holiday production The STAGE Christmas production The Gifts of the Maut from the stories of O Henry opened at Rrause House on Bulverde Road Dei 3 Pre show entertainment features soloist Patricia Zapp accompanied by Patricia Coffee On Dec ll and 12.
