today I was informed last night by Mayor Keith Richter that I had signed the application on the wrong line 'i obey said he had seer the applies ’.ion and his signature indeed was on the wrong line He said he wished city officials would have notified him earlier of the mistake The mayor informed me last night that since the name wa- on the wrong line he would not certify me as a candidate So I m withdrawing he said Richter did not file for reelection and there are no other candidates for the position h ormer Mayor Paul l>avis who held th*- post for more than lo year- since the city in corporated in 1974 died in November Mayor Pro Tem Neil I’raigmile took the reins until January when he left office to take a seat on the Comal County Commis stoners Court Keith Richter took over Garden Ridge vowed Wednesday to continue fighting an annexa tion move approved earlier that night by a 3-1 vote of the Garden Ridge City Council Steve Kosub an attorney representing the annexed residents said the Garden Ridge city government did not have the authority to annex the area The main concern is a general law city. as opposed to a home^rule city cannot annex an area without being requested by a majority of the citizens of the annexa bon area he said Clearly these people do not want to be annexed Kosub said of the group of about 20 residents gathered outside Garden Ridge City Hall following the vote Kosub said the residents may file suit against city of baals or request a state attorney general s ruling to determine if the officials acted within their authority The newly annexed area has IHS residents There was a petition allegedly signed by a majority of the citizens he said adding there is a question of whether annexation supporter- misrepresented the cl tv -
