establishing an effective Be it ordained by the city council of New Texas I That Chapter Signs and Sections 18A1 through 18A14 of the code of ordinances is hereby amended by adding the following provisions to be known as Chapter Signs and which shall read as follows SECTION Any device or surface on which figures or symbols are projected or in any manner outlined or at and used for advertising or identifying OffPremise Any outdoor advertising device directing attention to any service or activity not or conducted on the same premises where such advertising is OnPremise Any outdoor advertising device pertaining to an or business conducted or sold at the location on which the sign is Traffic A sign that gives direction to either pedestrian or vehicular Portable A transporatable sign of durable construction on or including trailers and search lights used for advertising or promotional which is not designed or intended to be per manently affixed to a other or the but which is capable of being so SECTION These regulations shall be in full force and effect with in the corporate limits of the City of New and within its ex traterritorial jurisdiction as authorized by the State of SECTION OFFPREMISE The following regulations shall apply to off premise signs Preexisting offpremise The lawful use of any offpremise sign existing at the time of the enactment of this ordinance may be continued although such does not conform with the provisions of the the right of nonconforming uses to continue shall be subject to the following specific regulations A nonconforming offpremise sign may be maintained by the but shall bot be added or modified in any A nonconforming offpremise sign which is damaged or partially destroyed by earthquake or other calamity or act of shall not be again restored or used as an offpremise sign if the expense of such restoration exceeds 50 percent of the replacement cost of the offpremise sign at the time such damage Size Sign structure shall have a maximum of 2 sign The size of any single sign face shall not exceed 672 square feet along the interstate and shall not exceed 300 square feet along any other street or The maximum height of a sign shall be feet from the road grade to the top of the sign along the interstate and a maximum height of 30 feet from the road grade to the top of the sign along any other The bottom edge of the sign permits as established by the City of New A permit shall be required for the changing ot the advertising copy or message of the painted offpremise sign or for repainting or cleaning maintenance of an off premise The planning director is authorized to issue stop orders for any sign which is being con structed in violation of this chapter other ordinance of the City of New SECTION ON PREMISE The following regulations shall apply to to on premise signs Preexisting onpremise The lawful use of any onpremise sign existing at the time of the enactment may be continued although such does not sign shall be 422 feet from the road grade to the top of the sign along the interstate and a maximum height of 30 feet from the road grade to the top of the sign along any other Traffic Traffic signs
