School Dan Fox and Tammy Mit were selected as members of the AllState Choir Saturday during auditions in Corpus Mitchell competed in the Alto I sec tion and received third Fox auditioned in the Tenor II section and earned fifth In order to earn a spot in this honor students must suc cessfully pass auditions at the area and state said NBHS choir director Stephen A tremendous amount of work went into learning the difficult music for this audition and both students are to be com mended for this high As members of the AilState Fox and Mitchell will attend the Texas Music Educators convention 1214 for rehearsals and a con cert in the 256voice The con cert will be in the Theatre for the Performing Arts in San Antonio The concert is free and open to the the AllState Choir was in vited this year to sing at the American Choral Directors Associa tion Convention in Lone Star honors starshinestudents Twenty students at Lone Star Primary participated in an honors luncheon These students dined with prin cipal Evelyn Farmer at a special table on the cafeterias These students were chosen by their The purpose of this program is to boost students morale and self as well as to give the students a bachelor of arts degree from Pan American University and is working toward her masters She has 13 years of ex perience in music This is my seventh year of teaching elementary music in the New Braunfels ISD at Carl Schurz Haas Besides general music I teach a third and fourth grade training choir and a fifth grade performing She previously has served as TMEAs region XII elementary divi sion region V elementary division chairman and region XV elementary division Haas is a member of the board of directors of Circle Arts Theatre and has worked as a volunteer for the Comal County Fair and the Greater New Braunfels Arts She has been on the executive board of the New Braunfels Independent School District She also has served as the accompanist for the New Braunfels High School band for solo and ensemble Womens forum tackles real life issues LESLIE PhotOflraptwr Dan Fox and Tammy Mitchell won seats in the AllState Choir Todays Woman Way to a oneday forum designed for the needs and interests of todays is scheduled for 28 at New Braunfels High The forum will feature sessions of interest to women of all Possi ble topics include successful starting a homebased legal financial life
