passage of two landmark pieces of legislation The Home Owners Loan Act of 1933 and the Federal Home Loan Bank These pieces of legislation laid the groundwork for the savings and loan industry as we know it The modern history of the industry began with the passage of the Home Owners Loan Act which established the Federal Savings and Loan In surance Corporation in which deposits of individuals
