Midnight yell practice is a time-honored tradition at Texas A&M University and marks the beginning of a football game day at midnight. The yell practice is usually held on Friday night or Saturday morning, depending on which side of the minute hand is observed. For home games, the event attracts as many as 30,(KM) people to Kyle Field, most of them students and alumni. Aggies will be in Dallas on New Year’s Eve prior to the 50th annual Cotton Bowl game when A&M plays Auburn. Since the start of the New Year also begins the 150th anniversary of Texas’ independence, this year’s pre-Cotton Bowl yell practice has been officially approved by the Greater Dallas Sesquicentennial Committee, A&M officials said. “We probably have more people attending midnight yell practice than many schools have at their games,” said Texas A&M yell leader Tom Buford, a senior from Mount Plea sant.
