Monda> at Comal Bowl. The Icemen clinched first place in the New Braunfels Summer Basketball League with a 74-72 win over the Eliminators Tuesday night. The win gives the Icemen a perfect 9-0 record, while the Eliminators wind up with a 6-3 record. The New Branfels Herald captured second place on Thursday, the last day of the season, by downing Braunfels Sporting Goods 82-66. The Herald finishes the season at 8-1 while BSG ends at 6-3, along with the Eliminators and the Longnecks. After a tie breaker procedure, Braunfels Sporting Goods finished in third place with the Eliminators fourth and the Longnecks fifth. BSG lost to the Longnecks 73-68 on Tuesday. The Budmen also lost two games last week. On Tuesday they lost to Pantera’s 64-63 and on Thursday MPM downed the Budmen 70-54. MPM and Wesch Electric wind up the season at 4-5 while Pantera’s finishes at 3-6. MPM won sixth place after the tiebreaker procedure was used. The Budmen ended up 1-8 while the Lincoln Log Choppers were 0-9. The post-season tournament begins at 5:15 p.m. today when Pantera’s and the Budmen square off. The winner of that game will play the Icemen at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Other games today are Wesch Electric against the Herald at 6.30 p.m.. MPM against BSG at 7:45 p.m. and the Longnecks versus the Eliminators at 9 p.m. The double-elimination tour nament continues this week and next week with the championship game scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 29. The Rangerettes, bidistrict champions a year ago, will play freshman, junior varsity and varsity matches beginning at I p.m., 2 30 p m and 4 p m. Any players who have not picked up sanitary equipment should report at 2 p.m. to get that equipment. Football players to meet at BMS Informational meetings    for Bulverde Middle School football and their parents are scheduled for this week. Eighth grade students who plan to participate should attend the meeting at 1,30 p m Monday in the school gymnasium. The seventh grade team will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Participants may pick up forms for physical examinations and insurance at the meetings or from the school office any weekday.
