DeLOACH Staff writer Comal ISO trustees left the door open to supplement state funds and pay all teachers who qualified for career ladder But it could easily slam shut in if theres not enough carryover to start school next The 90 folks we have to do that by the end of Superintendent Bill Brown told trustees at Tuesday nights special Right we cant find the money to do But we can leave it take a look at it in and the options still there if the money CISD will receive state career ladder funds for between 8490 but the district has 176 teachers who qualified for the Level II supplement of To fund all 176 the district would need another to add to the in state CISD Business Manager Abel Campos said the moneys not there right now to fund all 176 I estimate a fund balance of at the end of our fiscal year Campos But we need start of dollars for the 198586 school because we get no state money until the last week of Sep In the Brown said the district has had to borrow money to meet its first payroll in He added he would not recommend borrowing money to fund all teachers who qualified for career because youre borrowing money one year to pay for something that happened last Campos could make way for election By LILLIAN THOMAS Staff writer New Braunfels JSD could face a rollback election this year because the tax rate increase proposed in Tuesdays board meeting exceeds 8 Last years tax rate of cents per valuation will increase to if the board of trustees does what it announced in Tuesdays A public hearing on the required by law when the proposed tax rate is more than 3 percent over the previous was set for June and a special board meeting to ap prove the budget was set for June All board members present ap proved the intent to raise the 198566 tax rate by a roll call with only trustee Margie Waldrip What this means is that you can not decide to set the tax rate higher than the announced but you can set it Superintendent Charles Bradberry Though cents was the
