Through the years, the group made donations for hospital equipment, to Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation, BrieflyNew type of investing NEW YORK (AP) — There’s a new type of investment game on Wall Street called “junk financing” by its opponents and “high-yield financing” by its supporters. It uses unsecured securities that pay very high interest. The securities are called “junk" because of the low rating they’ve received from credit-rating agencies. Certificates were also awarded to Guada Coma for donations made to Wild Basin Wilderness in Austin, World Gardening and District VII Scholarship Fund. Winning youth posters by students from the New Braunfels Christian Academy sponsored by Guada Coma were “Woodsy Owl’’ — first place, James Drury and Tiffanie Purvis; “Smokey the Bear’’ — first place, Janie Jasper and Katie Bader, and “Conservation My View” — first place, Taylor Bedford; second place Mark Pettis. Comal Garden Club — silver rating; first place president’s report. All local club entries awarded at the District Convention will continue to compete at the state level with results being announced April IO at the State Spring Convention in Fort Worth. Following the awards presentation, Mrs. Jack Van Cleve, from Uvalde, was installed as the new District VII Director fo 1985-87.Preceptor Rho The Preceptor Rho Sorority had a breakfast to honor prospective members Diane Martin and Linda Pinson. The breakfast was at the home of Jean Prochazka March 23. New officers are Ginger Caddell, president; Jean Prochazka, vicepresident; Charlene Wunderlick, recording secretary; Barbara Tuch, correspondence secretary; Carol Schumann, treasurer; Nadya Lehmann, Jo Williamson and Beulah Dicus, city counsel.V.F.W. Auxiliary The V.F.W. Post 7110 Auxiliary of New Braunfels met March 13 at the Post Home with President Nora Soechting presiding. Prior to the meeting at 7 p.m. the auxiliary members and post met to hear Trooper Milliken, Department of Public Safety, Division of Safety Education, and watch a film on drug abuse. The auxiliary will sponsor a girl to Girl State in June at Texas Lutheran College. On February 19 the V.F.W. Auxiliary members enjoyed an evening of fellowship. This year they met for a salad supper and an evening of games instead of having the annual membership dinner. This will be observed in the fall when the auxiliary was initiated. One guest was present, Mary Tymak, whom the club sponsored as the V.F.W. Teacher of the Year. The next meeting will be April IO.
