Whitaker has also been named to the Adidas All-America team. While at New Braunfels, Whitaker won the state championship in the 3,200 meters, and she was also third in that event at the Junior Olympics last summer in Los Angeles She is currently attending Rice University on a scholarship. Nature outing set for Saturday The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department’s nature outing at Landa lake has been rescheduled for Saturday. The program will start at 9 a.m. at the boathouse, and it is the first in a series of programs for the citizens of New Braunfels to enjoy and learn about the ecology of the area. Included in the activities will be short presentations by Bill Schumann, agent for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service; David Whatley, director of the parks department; and Marcus Tonish, program director for the parks department.
