The Texas Nature Conservancys Honey Creek Preserve isnt finished by a long and it isnt paid for a mood of optimism prevailed there last as the Gulf Oil Corporation dished up steak dinners for the people who have given time and money to the project thus I just cant help but with the kind of spirit weve seen here that were going to get this said TNC director Andrew Honey a ranch located in western Comal is the conservancys most ambitious project in Texas so Sansom When the previous owner put the land on the market in Texas trustees feared that its unique geological and biological features would be lost to So they borrowed million from the national Nature Conservancy and bought it National keeps a special fund for just such But the Texas chapter is expected to pay back that with Right its still million When it comes to operating the manager Luke Thompson makes a little money go a long and hires cheap labor to do the dirty Gulf donated to restore the historic Rust which will serve as an entry point to Honey Creek from Guadalupe River State An estimated 160 volunteers did the rest ham mering and painting the house back to 1917 mint Volunteers have also done a great deal of work on the preserve At the Rust House dedication on Thompson estimated these people in well over hours in the past 20 In terms of money a conservative estimate that would be about he It was partly in honor of those volunteers that Gulf threw the bringing in its prizewinning bar Unicorn bandsmen place at TMEA The Texas Music Educators Association auditions for the Region District and
