The public creditor can rest satisfied, therefore, that the interest will be paid in full next fall or winter. The Com mission to investigate the indebtedness of the State consists of three Senators and lour Representatives, all Democrats, and gentlemen of ability mid character. Resid. s the funded debt, che Commission will investigate and report upon the Floating indebtedness of the State, and will make their report to the •General Assembly during the first week of the regular session. It, would have been more satiafactoiy if the Treasurer had been authorized to pay the interest on the Consolidation bonds and stocks, as soon as they weie examined and verified ; but the course taken satisfies the whole General Assembly, and isa pledge and guaranty that every honest, debt of the.State will he promptly and faithful, ly paid.
