Quick The New Mexican Santa Fes vibrant realestate market emit ted some mixed signals in the third quarter of the year with median sales prices in both the city and county up from the same quar ter in 2004 and home sales way up in the county On the other hand the number of homes sold in the city dropped and the citys median sales price of was well below the record price of in the second quarter of 2005 The sales and price information comes from the Santa Fe Association of Realtors which always cautions that not all sales are reported to the association That can skew the figures especially since some of the unreported sales are made by builders and nonprofit groups and tend to be lower The association has received a grant from the National Association of Realtors to improve its database by Shank The Taos News A 15year veteran of the Taos Police Department was charged Friday with three felony counts related to an early morning breakin at the WesrernSky Cafe in Taos Malcolm James Martinez 40 of Taos was charged with aggravated burglary breaking and entering and larceny of more than Magistrate Betty Martinez who is not related to Malcolm Martinez set a cashonly bond Police allegedly recovered cash a 5poundbag of green chile and gift certificates from Malcolm Martinez of for the officer who was escorted from the court house in handcuffs and ordered held at the Taos County Adult Detention Center The judge entered a not guilty plea to all charges on the patrolmans behalf despite his repeated statement that he wanted to plead guilty When told Malcolm Mar tinez had made numerous threats against his own life the judge ordered that he be seen by mentalhealth officials He was described as being since his arrest Malcolm Martinez appeared in court wearing his dark blue police uniform pants and a white Tshirt He was arrested while on duty early Friday in the park ing lot of the WestemSky Cafe on Weimer Road According to a probable cause statement by Lt Daron Syling officers conducting a surveillance operation at saw Malcolm Martinez sitting in his police car on the west side of the cafe and then drive to the front of the restau rant and leave the vehicle They soon saw a
