if I were to stick around Vienna as much as a week Id start writing music my self Its that inspiring For thirty years since my first visit there I have regarded Paris as the worlds most beautiful city with Washington D a runner up for the distinction Now Im not so sure I cant think of much that could have been done to add to Viennas loveliness Like its neigh or ing city Bud apest Vienna is astride the Dan ube blue only to the eyes of poets and com Except for the more W EARL HALL ancient part of the city with is famous Vienna Woods the terrain is surprising ly flat The Alpine mountains peter out at the approach to the city Enormous Palace Much of what goes to give Vi enna its charm dates back to the days of the royalty Smack in the center of the city within the con fines of the wall which used to protect against invaders is the enormous palace which for cen turies housed the Hapsburg line of monarchs Now all of that has beeix cois verted into museum and art gal lery use Nearby and in the same classic style of architec ture are the parliament buildings and other impressive structure housing the government of the new republic Right in the center of things is the building which
