Thursday in overwhelming pas sage of the bill to restrict bee sales Friday proposed that the op eration of stateowned liquo stores in Iowa be made subje to local option election They drafted their proposal a a substitute amendment to th judiciary committee bill whic would legalize sale of liquor by th drink This measure has beer scheduled as a special order o business in the senate at a m Tuesday The liquorbythedrink bi also has attached an amendmen which would allow all cities an towns to decide by local optio whether liquor and wine could b sold over the bar The new amendment would no permit a vote on sale by the drinl but would authorize elections t determine whether liquor coul be sold in state stores or banne entirely It was drafted by Senators J F Miller Earl C Fishbaujfh Jr charge of ob taining money by false pretenses The jury deliberated for over 5 hours after District Judge John M Schaupp of Ft Dodge sent the case to the jury at p m Thompson Elmer Croft garage
