CASTER IS TAKEN Was Found Hiding in Attic of House Owned by Friend CENTERVILE Dec 9 guards were watchingthe jail cell here today of Joe Caster Exline a county attorneys informa tion was beingprepared asking life imprisonment foxhim on the charge of lobbing the Dean Savings baiik Caster was captured Saturday night by Sheriff Earl Gaughenbaugh when he responded to the sheriffs tapping on the ceiling of a bedroom as he sought to hide in theattic of the George Dobbs homeOfficers of Appanoose county Iowa and Put nam and Adair counties Mo con tinued to search for Lee Mullluix of Hartford Mo who Caster con fessed wa3 his accomplice Recover Loot Approximately onethird of the loot was recovered Officers found 5375 upon Caster who said he had given the bulk of the more than l 000 obtained to Mullinix to purchase a new automobile Mulliniix was last seen stepping out of an automobile at Kirksville Mo Hade Burns deputy game warden of Putnam county Mo and former sheriff there gavethe tip that re sulted in Casters capture He tooK officers to the farm home of Joe Caines whose son Harold admitted receiying510 to take two men to the Dobbs home Answered Taps The officers had some difficulty obtaining Dobbs permission to search his house Gaughenbaugh no ticing a square hole leading to the attic in the ceiling of a bedroom upstairs tapped on it twice He heard a faint pair of taps in re sponse and commanded Caster to come down Officers also sought today to link Caster and Mullinix with other bank robberies They said the men when arrested previously confessed to robbing numerous country stores Caster once broke jail at XJnionvUlc Ho where ho was held on a liquor law charge while Mullinix was ar rested here for illegal possession of an automobile Muddy Hill Stopped Them Caster
