Mason City Globe-Gazette (Newspaper) - July 2, 1929, Mason City, Iowa 1929 Sun Baths Beneficial to Health According to State Department DES MOINES July 2 That sun baths have a beneficial ef fect on health ia indicated by the number of mothers in practically every community who take their children out for a sunning every day the weekly health message is sued today by the state department of health said Direct sunlight not only pre vents rickets but if given regularly every day it will ward off many of the ailments to which children are prone the message said It con tinued that tuberculosis would suf fer a sharp decline among children ifall mothers gave this simple treatment to their children The message warns the mothers however to give the sun baths reg ularly and that exposure to the sun must be gradual or else the child may receive a severe sunburn The intense midday sun during the sum mer months should be avoided the bulletin declared MASON CITY GLOBEGAZETTE
