The primary change will be In the downtown program which will be conducted In the First Presbyterian church In order to ease the space problem in the main library the board of trustees voled id convert the auditorium where the story hours were held Into a stack stor- age area. The move was dictated by the fact that new stacks al- ready had been added wher- ever possible in other areas of the library and the basement storage area was at capacity Library Director Thomas Carney said. He also pointed out that no other room in the library is large enough ,o accomodate the story hour program. Any attempt to use the children's room would have required "seriously limiting" the stack urea for children's books. The downtown story hour will be Thursdays, starting this week, from to a.m. In the lower level lounge of the First Presbyterian church, across the street from the library al Third avenue and Fifth street SE. The Kenwood slory hour also will be Thursdays from Dr. Manville To Head Fund Unit C.I. Rice, 1974 United Way campaign chairman, has announced the appointment of Dr. James C. Manville, Fairfax, as chairman of unit 5 (professions, clergy, state and county Dr. Manville has been a volunteer in United Way activ- ities since 1934, serving on the original board of directors and Dr. James Manville with various committees and campaign positions. He is president of the Linn county Mental Health center board, and an honorary life member of the Grant Wood chapter of American Red Cross. He is a member of the Iowa and American Optometrist Assn., and a member of the Amer- ican Academy of Optometry. He is also a member of the Greater Downtown Assn. of Cedar Rapids. The campaign begins Oct. 1 and ends Nov. 1.
