chosen the cast for the production of Miss at the Indianapolis Civic Theater 1200 W 38th Jan 1830 Film star Ginger Rogers will have the title role for the 14 performances which except for Miss Rogers will feature cen tral Indiana actors About 300 auditioned over a two month period before Logan selected the cast The director said he was pleased with the abundance of talent available for the musical Gayle Foy will understudy Miss Rog ers in the title role of Miss Moffat She has toured with Mary Martin in Annie Get Your and performed for Star Carriage House show Mike Reinhardt and Cathy Hightower Boards in Grease as Eugene and with the summer stock Weathervane Theater as well as play ing at the Indiana Repertory Theater Veteran character actor Bernard Wurger will play Miss Moffats archri valturnedlove interest the Senator Wurger for the last 13 years has been in the theater department at Butler Uni versity and is an assistant professor He has directed and performed for the Brunswick Musical Theater in Maine for the last 21 years His most recent ap pearance in Indianapolis was at the Repertory Theater at CTS as Candy in Of Mice and Nancy Ford Clark will play the role of Mrs Sprode a southern dowager Mrs Clark has sung with the Indianapolis Op era Company in and as the mother in Madame appeared at Civic Theater as the queen in and has worked for Starlight Musicals for two years as a singer The black roles of Bessie Watty and her mother Mrs Watty will be taken by Kathy Ridley and Angela M Brown re spectively Supporting roles of the young black cane cutters will be taken by Van Dick erson who is Morgan Evans understu dy Gerald Chancy who sang the role of Joe in Footlite Musicals production of Showboat last season Myron El who appeared with the Indianapolis Opera Company and Richard Pettie who was a student with the Shortridge School of Performing Arts The white foremen who are students Ginger Rogers in Miss Moffats school include Dan Scharbrough James Freeman a student at and Douglas Webster another student who works as a singer er at Kendall Musicale The Cotillion ladies and gentlemen will be portrayed by Stacy Dial Vonda Furhman Phyllis Anderson Alan Alder son Carl Cooper and Jeff Hutson The younger children in the school will be played by Braden Danner Sarah Litzs inger Craig and Brian Summit Paul Scherre Channing Benjamin and Robyn Griggs Miss Moffat will not replace any of the previously announced main stage shows but will be the featured show of the 8283 Studio C season and will be done on the main stage in the January time slot Tickets go on
