Which Addrefs His Majefty was pleafed to receive very gracioufly. To the King's mod Excellent Majefty, The humble Addrefs of die States of your Majefty's Ifland of Jerfey. . May it fleafe your Sacred Majefty, � AS every Event that can increafe your Majefty's private Happinefs, and eftablifh the Welfare of your People, with the Profperity of your Kingdoms, will always give your faithful Subjects of this Ifland the truer! Joy, we moft humbly beg your Majefty's Permiffion to offer our warm and unfeigned Congratulations upon the Aufpicious Nativity of a Royal Prince, and the happy Recovery of our gracious Queen-. v Always unanimous in our Loyalty to your Royal Hbufe, and in our Attachment to the Proteftant Religion, we have feen, with the higheft Satisfaction, the ardent Wifhes which .your Subjecls had formed, upon your Nuptials, compleated, in the' Birth of an H'-'ir .Apparent to your Majefty's Crown ; by whom the Religious and Civil Rights, of which they have had the fulled Enjoyment under your Illuftrious Family, may be effectually fecured ; and who, being formed after your Example, and inheriting �your Majefty's Virtues, may 'render the ineftimable Buffings of your Majefty's Reign liable and permanent to Pofterity.. The immortal Honour which hath accrued to your' Majefty's Arms, from the lace glorious and ever memorable Reduction of the Havannah, hath proved a frefh Occafion of Joy and Exultation to your faithful Subjects of this Ifland, upon feeing a Conqueft, where the greateft Dangers and Difficulties were to be furrounded, happily effected by the intrepid Valour of your Mijefty's' Fleets and Armies, under the Conduct of two Commanders of unwearied Zeal, and of diftinguifhed Abilities; one of whom your Majefty was gracioufly pleafed, fome Time fince, out of your great Goodnefs to. us, to r appoint the Governour in Chief of this your Majefty's Ifland. That the Almighty may long preferve your Majefty and the Queen, with yonr Royal Progeny, to reign over a free, brave, and grateful People, will be the conftant Prayer of, If and of Jerfey, Your Majefty's moft dutiful, Nov. 17, 1762. and ever loyal Subje&s. Moft gracious Sovereign, ' ~~ E " your Majefty's moft loyal and obedient Subjects,-the Lord Lieutenant, High She [ Prjge Six Pence. ] 'A rifF, Gentry, Clergy, and Freeholders of the County of Norfolk, ever Jenfible of our Duty to the beft of Sovereigns, beg Leave to approach your Royal Perfon with our Tribute of Congratulation upon the fafe Delivery of the Queen, and the Aufpicious Birth of an Heir Apparent to your Crown. Your Majefty, feels for your Subjects 2s your Children ; and we fhould be guiliy of the moft criminal Ingratitude, if we did not feel for you as our Parent; therefore our fervent Wifhes are, That your Majefty'i.unwearied Labours for the Public Good, may be continually foftened by every virtuous and endearing" Pleasure of domeftick Life; and, upon this joyful Occafion, we cannot but anticipate the Happinefs of our Pofterity, governed through a Suc-ceflion of Ages, by Princes defcending from your Majefty and your Royal Confort, the future Defenders of the Proteftant Religion^ and the faithful Guardians of Civil Liberty. Will your.Majefty, at the fame Time, be pleafed to accept from us the fincere ExprefCons, which we :moft humbly beg Leave to offer, of Veneration for your Royal Perfon, Confidence in the Wifdom of your Meafures, Gratitude for- the Felicities we enjoy, and Satisfaction in the Profpect of a happy Termination of a moft fuccefsful and glorious War. Convinced that your elevated Spirit of Royal Wifdom, Juftice, Fortitude, and Humanity, is che Spring of all thofe Counfels and Operations from which are derived the Saccefies of War, the Advantages of Peace, and the augmented Glory, Profperity and Security of Great Britain-Charmed with your Majefty's Tendernefs for your Subjects, on Account of the Burdens laid upon them, in confequecce of fo long and expenfive a War, and the follicitous Attention to their Interefts, in the Improvement of Commerce, the Difcharge of Public Debt?, and the Diminution of Taxes-We muft be infeufible of our own Happinefs, and unworthy of your Royal Goodnefs, if we did not feel the moft loyal and grateful Affection to your Majefty's Perfon and Government. As Peace, upon Terms of Security and Advantage, is always more eligible than War, in refpeit both to Humanity and good Policy, efpecially for an induftrious, trading and commercial Nation ; we cannot fufHciently applaud your Majefty's Conduct in preferring Peace to War, at this Juncture, when your Arms have been attended with the moft uninterrupted and glorious Succefs, as it is a demonftra-tive Proof of a Mind fuperior to the delufive Charms of unbounded Ambition, and filled with the nobleft Sentiments t)f Equity, Humanity, and-Patriotic Affection for the Welfare of your People. Had your Royal Prudence thought fit to with-, hold from our Knowledge the Preliminary Conditions, which-are to be the Balis of a Treaty o� Peace, we fhould have bad, neverthelefs, an entire Confidence in your Royal Word,'That they, are fuch as will form a fafe, honourable, and advantageous Peace; but as your Majefty has condescended to communicate them to your People, we cannot-forbear to add Expreflions of Joy and Triuizph, at Finding the Bower and Infblence of your Enemies fo fub-
