Daily Courant (Newspaper) - April 10, 1730, London, Middlesex The it* N� 889: Lisbon, March 9. N. S. ON the 1 ft Inftanc, the Queen, accompanied by the Prince and Prin-ceis of Brazil, the Infante Don Pedro, and the Infanta Donna Fran-, cifca, went to fee the Infante Don Carlos ac Campo Pequeno. The 3d, the King, the Queen, the Princes and Princeffes of the Royal Family, went to the Palate of the In-quifition, to fee the Proceflion of Pilgrims go by; after which their Majefties went and paid their Devotions vajt the Church of St. Roch, of the Profefs'd Houfeof thejefuites, where they were beginning the Octave of the Feftivalof Sr. Francis Xavier. The 5th, the Infante Don Carlos went to the Church of Sc. Bennetde Xabregas, to vifit theTomb of the Bleffed Antonio de la Conception., The 7th, that Prince came and dined at! Court ; and after having accompanied the Queen to the Church of St. Roch, he returned in the Evening, and lay at Camro Pequeno. Toward the Clofe of laft Mon.h, the Countefs de Tarouca lay-in of her firft Son, who was baptized the tftlnfta.it by Don Nuno da Sylva Teiles, Great Inquifitor of this Kingdom., Dr. Don Lopo Tavarez de Aranjo, a Native of Tangier, Knight of the Order of Chrift, formerly Judge General of the Military Orders, Defembargadof of the jiggravos, and Procurator-General of the Finances, died the 5 th Inftant, in a very advanced Age. We are actually loading in the River of Tagus, five Ships for Fernambuco, two for Paraiba, two for Angola, one for Maranhaon, and another for Rio de Janeiro. Madrid, March 28. N. S. The King has conferr'd the Office of Alcade of the great Court of the Kingdom of Navarre, upon Don Antonio Lifon, Auditor in the Chamber of Accounts of the fame Kingdom j in which Office he is fucceeded by Don Manuel Jofrph de Apefregui, Great Collegial of Sc. Crofs of Valladojid ; and Don Gregorio Rodrigo de Cifneros, Deputy of the Kingdom in the Chamber of Millons, has the Honours of the Council of Finances. Don Joachim de Mazparotta, Lieutenant-Colonel, is made his Majefty's Lieutenant of the Caftle of Alicant. Moft of the Foreign Minifters are gone to Grenada, to wait the Arrival of the Court. The Royal Chamber here have hired 14 large Tartanes, which are to fail under Convoy of the St. J eopold Man of War, and bring over from Fiume 4000 Recruits for the Imperial Regi-ments in this Kingdom and Sicily. . Rome, March 25. N. S. Cardinal Ruffo, Bifhop and Legate of Ferrara, arrived here on Tuefday laft. He went immediately to pay a Vifit to the Princefs Soriano, the Chevalier de St. George, and the Princefs his Conforc; and the next Day he fhut himfelf up in the Conclave. Cardinal Buoncom-pa^no arriv'd here alfo Yefterday; and Cardinal Sinzendorff is expected every Moment. An Exprefs from Vienna has brought a Letter for Cardinal Cofcia, fince which it is given out that the Emperor has taken him under his Protection. Cardinal Pamfi-lio died the 2zd Inftant; and the next Day his Corpfe was expofed in the Church of St. Agnes. The Count de Collalto, Ambaffadorof his Imperial Ma-jefty, is likewife gone thro' for Rome. Lucern, April 6. N. S. It is ftill reported, that fome Tboufands of Imperialifts are to march thro* the Country of the Grifons; but this is not certain. Several Engineers are actually arrived in Sicily, to put all the For-trefles of that Kingdom into a good Pofture of Defence; and the Viceroy lofes no Time in providing the Magazines with Stores of Ammunition and Provifions, to enable him to make a good Defence in cafe he fhould be attack'd. Vienna, April 1. N. S. We flatter our-felves here, that we fhall foon receive Advice of the new Czarina's taking the Sovereignty upon her in the fame manner as it was excrcifed by Peter I. and Peter II. 'Tis faid that M. Razeberg, Captain of the Horfe, had the greateft Share in the Diforders committed upon the Road to Italy ; and that he will be firft caii'd to Account for the fame. The March of the Second Detachment is not a little impeded by the great Rains, and the Floods consequent thereto. In Upper Auftria there fell fo haftily a Shower, that the Danube fwtll'd almoft as high as laft Year, and put the People into a terrible Confternation. Several General Officers are upon the point of fetting out for Italy ; particularly Prince Wenzd of Lichtenftein went two Days ago, to put himfelf at the Head of his Regiment there. Since laft Poft, arriv'd here 4 Expreffes, from Rome, Naples, Paris, and Conftantinople; whereupon 'lis currently reported, that certain Powers have Thoughts of appointing a new Congrefs to decide the Differences ftill fubfifting among them. The Imperial Chamber are very much furprized to hear, that the Elector of Mentz has laid an Embargo upon a Quantity of Meal that was falling down the Rhine, in order to be laid up in the Magazines of Luxemburg: But whether this was done by that Elector's Subjects, who claim a Debt of 300,000 Florins fiom the Imperial Court, without his Knowledge j or how elfe it hap-pen'd, we cannot fay. Be it as it will, we do not doubt but thofe Goods will be fuf-fer'd to pafs, as foon as Matters are clear'd up, upon the Count de Kufftein's.Arrival at Mentz. It was given out, that the Imperial Courier Mortagne arriv'd from Spain about a Week ago j but there was no fuch thing, he being come no nearer than Pans with the Dilpatches he brought from Seville j and ibere (Paris; finding a Gentleman of Count Kinski's jult ready to mount Exprefs for this Court, hedeiiver'd his Dil* matches to him^. for the greater Expedition. The Contents of thofe Difpatches are by no neans agreeable here, the King of Spain re* mainirtg inflexible upon the Article of the Execution of the Treaty of Seville, in what concerns the Introduction of his Son Dori Carlos into Italy with the Spanifh Troops i Wherefore Orders are fent to haften the March of the Detachment that is now upon the Route to that Country. 1 Rjtisbon, April 6. Several Expreffes have lately gone thro' this Place for Vienna, from the Nether* knds and Portugal. The Envoys of the Dyet have fent the Emperor's Commifforial Decree concerning the Treaty of Seville, to their refpective Principals, to have their In-ftructions how to proceed. Meanwhile, 'tis not expected that this Affair will be brought upon the Carpet fo fpeedily as fome People imagine, the prefent Juncture calling aloud upon feveral Stares of the Empire to be eir-cumfpect, and take care how they vote in fo delicate a Queftion. This being the Two Hundredth Year fine* the Confeliion of Augsburg was authorized by the Dyet of the Empire, the Lutherans of all Countries defign to celebrate ; Jubilee upon that Account the 25th of June next, We bear the Electrefj Dowager of Bavaria has left Jewels and cither Riches behind her. :o the Value of Si* Millions of Florins. Gene* ral Leeuwenob'r having been fent for by the King, is arrived here; and 'tis faid be is preparing to go to a certain Court in Quality of Envoy-Extraordinary. The Directors of otic new Eaft-India Company had a Meeting lately, wherein the Sum of 149,000 Rix-dollars was fubferibed in lels than two Hours, and the Humour of lubferibing ran fo high, that a great many were turn'd away. On Wednefday Evening Mr. Juftice Forrefctie Aland arrived in Town from the Weftern Circuit. The Lord Chief Baron Pengelly was taken ill at Exeter of a violent Cold, which hath retarded his fecting out on his return Home ; his Lordfhip's Groom died On the Circuit, and Mr. : Harris, his Clerk, is very ill,
