physical or mental condition than he was for his closing day He appeared to realize that he was nearing the end of his arduous siege and he did not make the usual effort to conserve his physical energies He allowed hie voice which is still un impaired full range He spent a greater part of the time than ordinarily between speeches chatting with friends In conversations he did not display the least nervousness over the near approach of the crisis of the campaign and to all outward appearances he was quite as unconcerned as were any of bis company At Hastings Mr Bryan spoke of the circulars
