recognition of the eminent of a custom which annually gives public expression to the sentiment in honor of those who toil for their daily bread I Asa S Bushnell governor of the state of Ohio do call attention to the fact that the 5th day of September 1898 being the first Monday of the month is to be known and celebrated as Labor day And I hereby recommend to all that they suspend their usual vocations iu order that they may join with those for whom the holiday is especially designed in the events aud ceremonies contribute to the success of the occasion It should not be forgotten in this eventful year that no men of the communities of our state or nation were more prompt to respond to the call to arms than those from the ranks of labor We should therefore pay tribute to those abroad and in camp as well as to those at home And under the re- blessing of peace let us hope that all future conditions of our country will mean the greatest benefit to those whose welfare is so absolutely Angelina W Hull the widow of the late John L Hull died at the home of her son Judge Linn W Hull at the corner of Hancock street and Huron avenue Mrs Hull was one of the earliest of this county having lived here for the last 80 years She had watched the march of civilization and had narked the changes that occurred in the transformation of a wild new o a flourishing center of industry She vas the
