staff ACCENT Pat Wells Ruston Born Soprano Patron of Phi Beta Honored at Reception One of Louisiana Tech's most illustrious graduates Miss Patricia Wells was formally inducted as a Patron of Phi Beta Fraternity by Alpha Omicron chapter at a special ceremony held in Iva Adams Parlor Tuesday night Following the induction the members of Phi Beta were host at a reception given in Miss Wells honor attended by local patrons and faculty and students of the music and speech departments of Tech The purpose of Phi Beta Fraternity is to promote the best in music speech and the theatre arts While an undergraduate at Tech Miss Wells was a very active member of Tech Theatre Players the Opera Workshop the Madrigal singers and the Tech Choir as well as being active in music in her church According to Kristi Garrison president of Alpha Omicron chapter Phi Beta is extremely happy that Pal Wells has honored us by becoming a Patron and we look to her hard work and long hours of practice as an example standards of assistance payments in New York City where a woman with three children is eligible for an annual support of including housing and food stamps To achieve a comparable income from em-
