Wednesday but they still worry about the crops future Larry Sampson a Rowland farmer and the president of the NC Tobacco Growers Association said he wont be satisfied until something is done that works for growers and tobacco compa nies We felt it was a bad with a lot of things wrong with it he said this morning There was some funding If a is going to put the people out of business who are golf tournament that the Lions Club of Lumberton will estab lish should ensure that the late judge continues to be remembered He was a patient caring kind judge known as an excellent judge throughout the state particularly in juvenile law Sam Britt a retired judge read from a proclamation that he wrote Earl Davis presidentelect of the club said members felt that honor ing the former Lion would be a golden idea Bennie Gardner the judges wife gave the club per mission She attended Thursday nights ceremony which was held at Robeson Community College Britt said Gardner deserved the honor for his spirit of service to Lumberton He his own memories of GARDNER spoke of Gardner I remember him as a law student at Wake Forest a district court judge a Sunday School teacher deacon and treasurer at the First Baptist Church a secretary and treasurer at the Chamber of Commerce and treasurer of the Robeson Baptist Association He loved children and was an out standing husband and father he said After
