stand Call and see him The usual men's meeting under the auspices of the Y M C A will beheld i at the Christian Church tomorrow Sunday at 3 o'clock Mr Frank Willis of the firm of Willis Bros accompanied by his wife w as in the city the first of the Meek Mr W will to October 1st to remain Miss Edith McGee a sister of Mrs W H McCammon arrived in Perry trip to Denver McGee will with her jury on either party Mr Jake Tyler agent of the can Co at Falls was in the city on Monday the guest of Mr and A E Willis on Willis Avenue Mr Tyler is a former resident of being for some time in business here Mr P C Rude Mr Tyler since leaving Perry has won the right to pend to his represented his county in tne last On last Monday the town of Adair a loss by fire Twenty-four business houses and two dwellings burned Chas Faylor who wasin Adair on that day the scene as a terrible one Help w as secured from Stuart the fire ot that city responding to for assistance There wa's a partial insurance only and the town is practical ly desti The Reynolds House postoffice and bank number 01 buildings To add to the terror of the hour the w ater supply gave out The carriers of saloon petitions are continually talking of the costs of the bootleggers as a reason why we should have saloons and x too and the curious part of the matte is that the only booth engaged i carrying the saloon petition is the on w ho owes Dallas county twenty-five o dollars costs for his own prose The charge that whiskey prose have cost the county thousand of dollars is utterly false But the mos ridiculous thing there is about the mat tens for a bootlegger to make th county then use that as DIED On Tuesday morning August 7th 1894 John Clinton youngest son of J D and Belle Darby Andrews Nine years ago away down in sunny South Carolina there came into our home circle a baby boy to stay with us until Tuesday we were called on to see his little life go out He was ours in sunshine and shadow and we loved him because he was not only a loving but a good child ever obedient never cross or unkind Clinton was baby boy and only those who have experienced a like loss can our feelings this as we write this little In Memoriam the two weeks of his fatal ness no word of complaint came from his lips and he fell asleep as gently as the violet closes its petals when its day is done The disease which took from us our boy was considered contagious so we were denied a funeral service but a number of kind friends went with us out to the city cemetery in the after- noon w here after an earnest prayer bv Rev Morrison we left him in his little grave to rest until the Great ing of the Hosts To all the friends who kindly helped us in our trouble Mrs Andrews and myself desire to return our sincer thanks but especially do we feel ful to Mis Dave Willis Mrs Fran Carpenter Mrs Stellzer and Mis who braving contagion cam to us in our trouble and remained unt we came back to cur home foreve emptied of baby and also t Messrs E A Tryon and Lew Griswol for their kindness Clinton with and just as e were placing him in hi we were called to the gate to re from four of his chums a beautifu cross made of the rarest fo this evidence of their love we than Masters Harry Heaton Joe Frush Frea Knell and Ray Parker Particularly did Clinton love as he callei Harry and just the day before talked the largest audience that has assembled there since the union vices began The talk was brief but the audience was deeply interested Mr O Magee of DesMoines the state secretory of the Y M C A present anJ assisted much in the ices The Y M C A is a success North of Perry Notes Hoi hotter u has the contract to A Mowrer another large barn Edith and lola Carter daughters of C Carter are quite sick at this writing Edward Mace holding number 24 secured the horse buggy and harness raffled here last week Ethel Jewell is dangerously ill at present Her father is visiting in ouri but her grandmother Mrs A R Jewell of Perry is here helping care for ler Mr Chas F Dana a resident of this for 20 years but now of Perry low with typhoid pneumonia t his home near the round house His many friends here are hoping for his any recovery We to say to the people of as county that we know of those who have lost their homes by the saloon in another state aad came here through the influence of their w ires to get them other homes Remember that if yon sign a petition for a saloon yon may be helping to destroy their homes again Mary Gilmore bom August 3rd wife of T J Gilmore died August 6th aged 43 years and 3 days loo much cannot be said in praise of her as she was one of those quiet peaceable women one of the best of mothers and neighbors There is few homes here but has had loving care in cases of sickness She leaves a band and nve children with a large circle of friends to mourn her early death About fifty teams followed her to her last resting place at Fair View cemetery The afflicted family have tne sympathy of the entire community in this their hour of trouble DOCTOR Old papers for sale at this office The Citizen's bank has several fine rooms to rent Miss Eva the oldest daughter of Mr tred Griswold who seriously ill with diptheria for some time we are glad to learn is improving For the first time in the memory of the oldest inhabitant the water in the channel of Coon river is so morning last into the homo circle of Mr and Mrs W R zier came a bouncing baby applicant for permanent board The little ger was a boy and although Mr zier has on a full force at his marble yards he has written from we are in- formed that on July he was ed by the Milwaukee to re- sume his work in the shops here on the th of August but before the time for him to start for Perry arrived the plans were again changed and he will continue in the shops for a time With a host of other friends THE BULLETIN regrets the decision which keeps the ge- nial Will away from Perry and we know at least one young lady who anxiously awaits the time when he can again rest on the lawn in the shade of the trees while his Columbia takes a breathing spell Speaking of the last BULLETIN he says I was pleased to read the des ri and lucid account ot the boiler explosion The paper last week was good very good and I will always look forward with pleasure to its perusal We think a great deal of it nere and if you fail
