Law Director Dan Lutz performed the ceremony in front of Mayor Handwerk’s wife Nancy and members of his family. Also present were State Senator Ron Amstuz, several council members, and City employees who work in the various departments. The Mayor is not new to City government – he served for 18 years on City Council. The fi rst 6 years he was a Council member and for 12 years he was President of Council. The hour and a half long program is designed to be a low- anxiety high- interest time for students and their parents. Activities are designed to reduce math anxiety of both children and their parents. The evening is also focused on raising test scores. Third and fourth grade teachers, as well as many community volunteers, will be assisting with each of the activities. Orrville’s third and fourth graders will leave feeling good about themselves, their families, and MATH. There are two Family Math evenings planned to do great academic work in a fun and carefree atmosphere: Wednesday, January 23 at 6 p. m. is fourth grade Family Math. Family Math nights planned See MATH on Page 12 Submitted by Orrville Salvation Army On Saturday January 19, 2008 from 5- 7 p. m. the Orrville Salvation Army will hold its annual Spaghetti Dinner at Trinity United Methodist Church. Tickets for the dinner are $ 6.00 pre- sale and $ 6.50, at the door, for adults and $ 3.00 for children ages 4- 8, children 3 and under are free. The meal includes salad, applesauce, bread, spaghetti, dessert and beverage. Take out will be available. Spaghetti Dinner is Jan. 19 F O L LOW N EW MI D DLE S C H OOL ’ S TI M E LINE P AGES 8- 10 Just add students ... This new room, located on the North side of the building, is ready for students. It, as well as all of the classrooms, has all new desks and chairs. It also has one of the 12 new “ Smart- Boards.” A “ Smart Board” is an interactive presentation system that provides teachers unlimited writing space. It also affords them the opportunity to save everything written on the board electronically for future use. Count not only the breast cancer patients, but their spouses, children, siblings, parents, friends, co- workers and health care providers. How long is your list? Probably longer than you would like. That’s why a posse of local women called “ Team Pretty in Pink” is headed to Washington D. C. in October to walk 60 miles in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3- Day Walk.
