evening to 6 Monday morning If Friday should be a rainy day the SHUT OFF SCHEDULE will be in effect one week later August 31 September 1 and 2 for the same hours Each water consumer MUST CURTAIL water use at least one- half normal use so that days supply of water may last 3 days All service stations are asked not to wash cars these three days YOUR INDULGENCE AND COOPERATION WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED Council The schedule of shut off will e in effect unless it is raining riday In that case the same for the shut off will for the following week Original paint inside the tank as been removed due to ice forming around the sides during the winter workmen reported that last winter ice formed on the sides of the tank to a depth of three inches In the process of filtering the baffles pull hunks of ice from the sides and along with the ice paint is removed The tank stands exposed to the elements a condition that has bothered several councilmen ever since the improvements were made in the water system According to Councilman Paul Wagner the tank should be in an enclosed building and to the average layman this makes a lot of sense With the tank standing out in the weather water filling it to be filtered naturally will freeze ing cold weather This hat caused the loosening of paint Unless the tank is enclosed it is reasonable to expect that the borough will have to go through a repainting process every three years A crew of painters will com- mence painting the inside promptly on Friday and the job likely will be completed that day However the paint of a nontoxic formula is not the type and the rest of the shut off period is necessary to complete drying Actually according to Wagner the paint should be allowed to dry for one week but that in this case is not possible When resumption of full scale operations is started en Monday residents may find a slight odor and taste of paint in the water but this will not be injurious Water users and particularly Cause Of Barn Fire Tuesday Fire believed caused by ning destroyed a barn at farm of C Edgar King New ford R 2 Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock Justice of the Peace King and Hampton Fire Chief ler estimated the loss which wai partially covered by insurance at Ten tons of straw 12 tons of hay 104 bushel of oats a corn planter and other ery burned with the barn which was located a half mile north of Hampton along the lisle highway There were no cattle in the barn at the time the bolt hit during a relatively mild thunderstorm Members of the Hampton Ab- and East Berlin fire companies responded and pre- vented the flames from spreading to a nearby weatherboard shop and buggy shed A wagon and implement shed adjoining the barn was slightly damaged Firemen said the lightning bolt apparently followed electric wires from the barn to a nearby shop jumped to a saw which was standing upright and was grounded Firemen used water from the booster tanks of the fire trucks refilling from the pond of Eugene Lemmon a quarter of a mile from the blazing bank barn those who use a lot of water such as service stations for washing cars are asked to drastically cur tail water use during the shut off period Every water consumer should realize it was emphasized that he consumption of water for each unit should be curtailed one half of normal use over the There will be just one- days water for use n three Wagner
