replacement for St Edwards University in Austin Thousand Oaks Austin Smithson Valley The west Comal County high school is a possible site for the next Dallas Cowboys training camp according to San Antonio city councilman The Dallas Cowboys will conduct training camp in a new location in 1998 after spending the last eight years at St Edwards University in Austin Switzer resigning Page 1B With plans change for next Christmas BY SUSAN JAKOBSEN Staff Writer Holiday River of Lights organizers plan to light displays during next years event as revenues brought in less than overall city expenditures City officials said they didnt expect to reap enough money in the first year to cover startup costs Animated displays illuminated Cypress Bend Park during 51 days in November and December during which city officials say approximately peo through park gates to view lights in various array Officials estimated in November between and people would pass through the park Some of those visitors were 300 season pass holders who had unlimited access to the event said Mike Shands city man ager The park opened to the public in midNovember only eight weeks after city officials adopted the Holiday Riv er of Lights program which previous ly was in the hands of Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce The Holiday River of Lights was originally brought to us at a cost of said Michael City and New Braunfels Utilities workers performed an electrical upgrade for about which included additional transformers and underground wiring A grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority about and 260 members will be vying for champion and reserve champion honors in five different divisions The show will begin at 8 Saturday at the Comal County Fairgrounds 801 E Common St Contestants will weighin all entries from 7 to 9 tonight Judges will begin Saturdays tion evaluating lambs followed by goats steers heifers and swine Each division is broken up into two age ranges juniors for club members 813 and seniors for club members 14 and Marty Gibbs Comal County Exten sion agent for agriculture said that the swine division has garnered the most entries with 125 Joe Ed Wise from Santa Anna who is a past extension agent and current dent of Santa Anna National Bank will judge all divisions Ernest Mayfield of Bandera will be the showmanship judge A showmanship trophy will be awarded in each division In each age range in each division the champion will receive a belt buckle and the reserve champion will receive a jack et All buckles and jackets were donated by local businesses Because of this weeks rain Gibbs said many farmers would not be able to work in the fields so the show was expected to draw about 200 spectators A concession stand will be available for those who disclosure Casteel Law requires county to avoid ID of hepatitis A locations BY SUSAN JAKOBSEN Staff Writer Citing statues designed to protect individual privacy Comal County Judge Carter Casteel has asked the Texas attorney generals office to decide if the county must identify day care centers that have hepatitis A cases Casteel of the Texas Health and Safety Code which says information relating to cases or suspected cases of health conditions are not public informa under the Texas Open Records Act Casteel also referred to Open Records Decision 577 in which the attorney generals office ruled that an individuals right to privacy was more important than the publics right to know However the ruling goes on to say that information may be released for statistical purposes if no one is identified Four daycare centers in New Braunfels have confirmed cases of hepatitis A within the child adult population at each facility Fortyeight cases of hepatitis A have been confirmed by Comal County Health officials since Oct 3 The filed a request under the Texas Open Records Act seeking the names of the affected day cares Two of the day care oper ators have confirmed having at least one case Casteel wrote to the attorney gen eral that the county is concerned that names of individuals may be easier to determine if the day care centers are whether the day care centers may be considered third party persons with privacy or property interests that may be involved as defined by Section Texas Government and the possible consequences for Comal County that it is mandatorily prohibited from
