CLAYTON WASHINGTON En- ergy Chief William E Simon said today the government should be able o require oil companies to reveal much more information on their oil reserves arid marketing Otherwise Simon said the government Won't be able to solve energy problems testifying at the first of several new congressional ings planned this week on energy before Congress ly reconvenes after a long recess Simon All of our current sources of Kissinger Offers Peace Plan To President Sadat By United Press International Secretary of State Henry A Kissinger presented his plan for separation of Egyptian and Israeli troops lo President Anwar Sadat at a meeting today in Egypt's Nile river resort town of Aswan Sadal thanked him for a wonderful effort Diplomatic sources told UPI correspondent Maurice Guindi in Aswan that Egypt already had indicated satisfaction with the plan which they said called for total Israeli pullback from the Suez Canal into the Sinai desert in exchange for fied American guarantees about Israel's security The sources said the broad outline of the plan was communicated to Aswan before Kissinger left Israel and that the Egyptians wilh what U.S officials termed very concrete and specific proposals ending the ly explosive situation canal The chief point of debate appeared to be number of Egyptian forces to be left on the Israeli side of the canal Tel Aviv reports said Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan told Kissinger that Israel could not compromise on its ence on a thinning out of Egyptian forces in the Sinai Egypt has previously insisted that its 2nd and 3rd Armies on the east bank remain intact fully equipped with planes tanks and rockets Diplomatic sources said Egypt would agree to streamline its east bank forces presumably trimming down size operation Sen William Proxmire D- Wis chairman of the Senate economic subcommittee conducting today's hearing told I am sure my colleagues in the Congress and the public at large are as confused as I am after reading and hearing for weeks all the conflicting reports of critical shortages embargoes broken embargoes shortfalls tant oil profits etc Proxmire said the shortages and reports of profits by some oil firms create great skepticism in this country Simon said the Federal Energy Office has already instituted a number of new systems to collect belter energy data and to improve our management capabilities He acknowledged that most of the information comes from the industry and much is nol disclosed at all Simon said he felt that specific mandatory reporting legislation is required In Oregon the nation's first gasoline rationing went into effect with motorists allowed to buy gas only every other day during the gas available to everyone on Saturday and none available on Sunday Under the plan service stations sell gas today and on upcoming even-numbered days to motorists whose license plate ends with an even number Motorists wilh license plates ending in odd numbers
