Lotus Road yesterday for numerous violations including failure to control dust emissions the past three years according to a statement released by the state ARB Contacted by the Mountain Democrat quarry owner Loring Brunius said he was that the complaints were tiled and said that the complaints aie distorted Brunius said lie was not prised by the fact that the com- plaints were filed It is lous they have been hounding me for five he said Today's announcement lows up on the initial notices of violation that the EPA and ARB had issued against the quarry in late April The quarry owner has not been providing the EPA and ARB with the information the two agencies have been ing they said The EPA and ARB filed the complaints in eral district court in Sacramento As a result of Weber Creek's lack of controls six homes in of a mile of the site ing one used as a day care center have been exposed to dust emissions the complaint alleges The complaints allege violation of the quarry's dust speak publicly He had difficulty even saying his name And this hurt A man with a deep desire to help people had been left with a disability that made it very to do so But that didn't stop him liven with a stutter compromising his cation abilities McGuire worked on developing programs to help people In El Dorado County he founded the Wimbledon House a home for bled boys trying to get their lives back on track In Nevada he started Rite of Passage another program for tough cases that helped turn lives around But the stutter persisted There times when I could barely have staff meetings because 1 couldn't say what I wanted said The harder I tried the more difficult it became Even running a staff meeting was an improvement though When he was a child McGuire said it could take him up to five minutes to say his name In college he was able to cut down his impediment through a program at the University of California Los Angeles the problem was still there ended up leaving the United States and moving to the United Kingdom There he heard of an opera singer who was teaching breathing techniques to get rid of their stutters I gave it a McGuire said I pretty skeptical But it worked For the first time in his life McGuire was able to talk without his trademark stammer For a person who had tered all his life it was like he had been given a new life The breathing technique was so great but then my stutter came back and I was so McGuire said I was just trying to find a way to get it a technique that worked back So McGuire went back to what he see CURE page
