Game a Quite a number of ad of the national game attend ed the contest which was pulled oft Paris and Shelbina at the former city yesterday afternoon The game was a hard fought one from start to finish and it required ten innings to decide which team were the champions the final score being three to favor of Paris Her bert the renowned twirler for the Gallatin pitched one game for Chillicothe against the Signals at this place this season was in the box for the Shelbina team and suc in fanning eighteen men in the ten innings St Vrain the won who does the apple knocking stunts for the Mexico rag was in the center of the diamond for Paris and made an exceedingly good showing fanning fourteen men Cadigan was to do the receiving for Paris but was unable to get off and Welch of Hannibal was secured in his place The game was an exciting one from start to finish and was well en joyed by all who attendee Til 10 BURKE HOMK AT PARIS the J One of the Finest Residences in Northern Part of Missouri That Moberly has more skilled workmen than any other town in the state of its size is no longer a doubt among our citizens and the residents of the surrounding towns Just for an example take the fine residence which is being built in Paris by Mr Burke This has been declared by all who have seen it to be one of the most elaborate homes in northern Missouri and the next question is who is building it Hume and San dison of Moberly have the contract for the brick work and have almost completed their part of the job John P Beuth of this city has the contract for the plumbing and Pete Stauffer also of Moberly was recent ly awarded the contract vo place a slate roof on it rmd will send a force of men to Paris next week to fill his end of the contract All that re mains now is the carpentering and we notice that Ernest who was formerly employed by Contract or Joe in this city has the contract for that What speaks better for the Moberly contractors than this HAS GOOD POSITION IN WYOMING j FATHER RELEASED RICES Harry is Located in En Wyoming One Miles From a The Account Against Charles T Rice Has Been Settled Harry Thierfelder who left here several months ago going to Colo rado has changed climates and has been heard from this time in Encampment Wyoming This is a small mining town situated at the base of a high range of the Rocky mountains at an altitude of 7200 feet which is about 0700 feet high er than Moberly He was compelled to ride twentyone miles in a stage coach to get to this town but he is well satisfied expects to remain there some time as he has a position which enables him to save about a month There are deer and bear in and as Harry is a great hunter he will find much amusement in hunting for big game instead of rabbits and quails as he used to do when he resided in Mo berly On his way to Encampment he visited in Cheyenne but did not seem to be very favorably impressed with that town Harrys many friends will be pleased to learn that ho is well lo and has a position that pays him over a month POLICE DISCREDIT STORY CEMENT BLOCK HOUSE John Dumont will Erect a Modern Residence 011 South Fourth Street this Fall John Dumont the well known con tractor and of cement blocks in making arrangements to erect a fine dwelling on south Fourth street this fall on the lot just north of his mothers home which is in the block The new residence will be built of cement blocks and will be a nice one It will be two stories high and equipped with all the mod ern conveniences John will do the After a Thorough Investigation Chief of Police Hogs Makes Statement of the Robinson Robbery John T Hogg Cheif of Police in forms the Democrat that he has made a thorough investigation of the al robbery at the home of Mrs W H Robinson on Bond street and finds that there is nothing to it Mrs Robinson alleges that sne was bound and gagged in broad daylight about five oclock in the evening and rob bed of her husbands lodge papers and some insurance papers There was money lying on tne dresser in the room where she claims to have been overpowered by the buglars but this was left untouched Cheif of Police Hogg doubted this story from the start and at once started an in He says that he now has evidence from the neighbors that no no such a robbery occurred and he is t now trying to find the motive the woman had in reporting such a thing Mrs Robinson will be remembered as the woman fortune teller that form erly resided on west Rollins street Revival at the West Park Church The revival at the West Park church started Monday night and al ready much interest has been mani in the meeting Rev Swann the new pastor is an able minister and a splendid talker and last even ing at the conclusion of the services the profession Besides the preach ing there is good singing and the five persons went forward and made public is cordially invited to attend any or all of these The household goods of Charles T Rice which were attached at the Wabash freight house the latter part of last week on papers sworn out by Frank McCully were released by Constable Albert Fleming the first part of this week McCully held a account against Rice and when the latter started to ship his household goods to another state McCully immediate ly ran an attachment oil them As soon as Mr Rices father heard of the goods being tied up he came to Moberly and settled with Mr McCully and also paid the costs of the suit The goods have since been shipped and itis well they have as Mr McCully is not the only party in Moberly that held an account against WILL GIVE AN ANTIQUE on fire as she did not have a spark of fire in any stove for it to have caught from a defective fine but a neighbor who was one of the first to arrive at the fire says he saw a fire burning in the stove and that he is well satisfied that the fire originated from a tive fine Mrs Robinson is the lady who was mentioned in yesterdays paper as being bound and gagged and robbed Sunday evening Evening Miss Margaret Dura out of South Fourth street entertained a few friends last evening in honor of her cousins Misses Mary and Bertha Kipper Music and parlor games helped to pass the time all railroads that will open up the entire country The case of Mrs Mattie Fields against Ralph Fields for a divorce and alimony was called in the cir cuit court at this place yesterday The defendant in this case failed to show up yesterday so the case was continued until today at which time all parties were on hand After lis tening to the testimony on both sides the judge returned a verdict grant Graves was not guilty The case of Williamson vs Ilardis ter is being argued as we go to press this afternoon This case was in the justice courts for several months and there have beon many witnesses Him J 13 Haniey a well known Mober ly man was arrested by Chief of Police John T Hogg on a warrant from Judge W H Evans charging him with mortgaging and selling property that did not belong to him it said Hanley gave a mortgage on some Moberly prop erty some time ago and a short time later he sold the sam In having the abstracts fixed up the purchaser found that the deed was no good and also that there a mortgage on the property arrest followed and he appeared be fore Justice Evans this morning and plead not guilty His trial is for Friday October i and his bond was placed at which he had not
