County Board of Education last night en- County Judge Hurst's action calling for a special court session Monday to reconsider the building program budget Hurst has called a special meeting of the quarterly court Monday to hear once again the school proposal to shift excess tax revenues and reserve insurance revenues to the building program budget At the last court meeting the court failed to pass the proposal by just one vote The proposal according to the school board would allow the board to completely finish and equip every building project now underway in- the Midway and Forge Ridge additions except for the Tazewell Primary School The court had already voted to have a special session Monday night anyway to consider a proposal by the school board to increase its Title I budget by the amount of an additional Title I grant recently given to the school board The court declined to act on this proposal when first presented because the ad- money had not been specifically budgeted In other action the court hired Bob Miller the principal of Ellen Myers School as principal of the new H Y Livesay Middle School in Harrogate Another personnel change voted last night was to transfer Steve Minton from Memorial School to Claiborne County High School where he will be the new football coach The board also accepted the resignation of James Roy a teacher at Forge Ridge who is retiring In other action the board voted to compile a list of substitute bus drivers Eugene Carey's Powell Valley bus route to Crit Smith and voted to join the Tennessee School Board Association and the Public freezing rain in some portions Lows upper 20 IRS Says Many Overcharging LOUISVILLE Ky UPI The Internal Revenue Service says that 45 per cent of the tax service stations across tucky checked by its agents last month were charging too much for gasoline However Stabilization Of- ficer Daniel Hawes said the constant revisions in the wholesale price of gasoline and not by station operators is the cause of over priced gas IRS agents from the Louisville office fanned out across the state and found 57 of 129 stations charging more than allowed under guidelines set by the cost of living council the scandal Ford gave some very firm views of his opposition to court ordered busing to achieve racial balance There are better ways to get quality he said noting he was totally unequivocally opposed to busing On the energy crisis Ford said he felt we were over the hump in the gasoline shortage and predicted there would be no gasoline rationing Ford said he believed people would rather wait in line to buy gasoline rather than wait in line to get ration coupons Ford said environmentalists will have to be realistic about the energy crisis and said many environmentalists have used good judgement in the last six months by their self- restraint He added 1 would hope they environmentalists wouldn't have to lose the headway we've made Ford said the President's budget for this year has a increase for research and development in the energy field He said next year the President plans to increase that by over two billion dollars Finally Ford told the group he had no intention of being a candidate for President in 1976 He said he has made a firm commitment to his wife not to run and he believed he could function more effectively as vice-president without the pressure of a future candidacy for the Presidency In introducing Ford to the Lincoln Dinner audience Fifth District Representative Tim Lee Carter said he was a man the people of America can love and respect and 1 will work for his nomination for President in 1976 In his speech Ford accented the positive achievements of the Nixon and called on every American to support him Ford said there has been Progress made under the President and if he had a Congress of his own party we would have been further along than we are now Instead of being hearted and discouraged we should be proud of the United he said Ford noted the mid-east peace agreement was arranged under the ship of the President He said was there any other leader in the world who have brought this about the answer is no Ford repeatedly emphasized
