old time friends of the deceased John Cutler Emery a resident of Maurice and vicinity for over fifty years was born at Ludlow Vermont within eighty rods of the home of President Coolidges father and where the president was born and raised His parents left there when John was old moving to Columbus Wis a short distance from Beaver Dam Six years or so later the war broke out and he enlisted in the Union ranks at the age of 18 and was dis charged after arduous service on account of disability caused by ung fever On February 26 1865 ie was married to Miss Ellen At wood at Windsor Wis and they lived in that vicinity for five years parents during his fathers illness Clarence of Willow Gity ND of Sioux City and Mrs Edith of Fast Fifth street Moines One brother Myron J Emery also survives He is the youngest member of the fam ily aud lives at Hay ward Wis Among the relatives from out of town who attended the funeral of J C Emery Jast Saturday were the following A W Emery of Hecla 8 D A B
