scenario when he heard the news that a charter bus carry ing members of the Bluffton University baseball team plunged off an Atlanta highway Friday Among the 35 passengers was former Bulldogs center fielder Allan Slabaugh a 2005 graduate of Dalton High Slabaugh was one of 29 who suffered injuries in the crash But he was among the lucky ones Four of his teammates and two others died in the mishap I didnt know Allans status right away and I was pretty shaken said Berg who coached Slabaugh at Dalton I think naturally your mind goes to the worst right Slabaugh who is a sophomore out fielder for Bluffton suffered minor in juries according to his mother Kellie I spoke with him briefly and he is do ing she said He has very minor injuries and had to get some stitches in his knee I feel horrible some overflow after burst of rain By AMY L KNAPP Heavy rainfall late Thursday and early Fri day totaling nearly one inch caused some mi nor flooding in the area but was not a factor in a power outage that hit about Ohio Edi son customers on northwest side Massillon Parks and Recreation Director Ken Kaminski said flooding was an issue at Reservoir Park but no damage has been dis covered There has been no damage due to the flood ing that we can tell at this Kaminski said Flooding at Reservoir Park is nothing new Kaminski said The flooding occurred in the same spots they see flooding every time there is a heavy rain fall or a quick thaw Its nothing Kaminski said Its going to get pretty wet down Water tends to leave its banks around the dog park as well as where Lincoln Way splits the park from South Sippo Park Kaminski said Kaminski warns residents especially chil dren to stay away from the water as well as any water that has flooded the park Other city parks including Wampler and on charges of sexual battery earlier this week personnel files from his days with the Massillon City School District raised no red flags Brown who is accused of having a consensual sexual re with a female Buchtel student was a teacher at the Massillon City School Districts Alternate School from 19911993 Brown was also a freshman football coach at Washington High School and received a supple This week fire Chris Orth was given his job back but without back pay Orth was fired in October for allegedly abus ing sick pay The city accused Orth of working for Emergency Medical Transport a
