of considerable interest iu respect to drunkards It was decided to what extent the habit of intemperance may void 1 policy of insurance In this case the person insured died In about eight months after taking the policy and it that at the time of collecting insu rance and from that lime till he died he was addicted to habitual intemperance and from this his death resulted The Court divided the drinking classes into three classes those who drink some times and upon occasions as it were more by accident than other wise but in so exceptional a man ner that no one can say they have any habit or regard to such uses those who acquire a constant appe tite for intoxicating liquors and a regular habit of using them so the system is kept under alcoholic and those who while remaining sober for a month three or six months or even a year at a time and refuse to take any drink then go on a debauch for a greater or less period These two latter classes were held to come within prohibition of this policy which stipulated that if the insured should die by reason of ance from the use of intoxicating liquors the policy should be void and of uo effect iu the reference the insured ordinarily an efficient business man belongs to the class whose constitutionally nervous appetite for alcoholic stimulants amounts to a disease and whose excess no earthly con sideration or persuasion can arrest until prostration and sickness compel cessation The Court there fore entered a judgment for the company reversing the decision of the Court below price it would bring al a fair sale vol wear ot all with Die bold challenger arose and follow ing him walked out of the church Instantly there was a stir all over the congregation The chorister was awakened from sleep by the and thinking the meeting had been dismissed was about to strike up the doxology Others who had been drowsy began pulling on their overshoes preparatory to retiring In the midst of this dis order the pastor raised his voice and said exultantly dear brethren and sisters I have driven the devils from the church and 1 am glad of it Order was then restored a sweet and holy calm pervaded the build ing and the chorister went unshapely if it is clean atil the prop erly cared for a hand can never look disgusting A soft warm pliable hand baa great power and fascination There is a character in a large hand times far greater than in a tiny one A hand corresponding iu size to the ret of the body is much finer than the litle fat dimpled bauds lo many are proud to possess and others envy the possession Itis equally as nonsensical to squeeze hands into gloves a size too small as to pinch the feet for light boots A very small nose is considered insignificant while a large one ii said to indicate nobility or charac ter Why not the same with hands ind feet If with changes of time the idea should prevail that small noses only were fine while large ones were something to hide and of which to be ashamed the vanity ot humanity attempt to reduce the proportion of that mem ber by lacing or inserting it in a close net It would be equally as sensible as stopping the circulation of in fhe oilier portions of the body A while flexible hand is ble but not at the sacrifice of duty Many a hard rough hand has done enough good in the world to look beautiful in the eyes of the appre s who shirk all the housework making ot their mother rather than soil their dainty while hands need not ex lo be by those who know it The and other signs of labor would be far more to their credit The best in the world is an honest hand be it hard or soft white or brown smooth or rough angular or shapely an honest palm that takes the hand of a friend with a warm hearty as if there were nothing in the heart to conceal only warmth and kindness towards all most beautiful This the bestand land in the The following by Grand Master Charles C dart of North Caro Kui commend to tbe fraternity profanity and drunkenness should surely come
