Russell M Tha defendant was not brought court until the law yers were to proceed He was brought over front the jail by Bailiffs Curley and Cool Coughlin looked splendid physical condition New of Jurors Heeded When the court adjourned at 13 oclock ten talesmen had been exam ined by the states attorney of whom nine cause each hav ing admitted that he held an opinion amounting ttf a as to the or innocence of the accused to whom he could not give a fair and Impartial One juror John E Parr a painter of street an birth answered Mr Bottums questions satisfactorily and was accepted temporarily by to have ome from Hancock Mich the home f Coughlins parents had called fio requested him i to get him a horse and But under the tion to which Coughlin will be sub mitted this story will probably fall to At the first trial Burke and Coughlin were anxious to testify but were not permitted to do so by their attorney John P been convicted of embezzlement in Cleveland some and his would develop this fact as it was known to States Attor ney so that Beggs evi dence would hurt rather than help him before the jury Should the other three Beggs remain off the stand the jury could not help but ascribe it to consciousness of guilt and fear of Therefore to save Beggs none of the accused tes This condition of things now exist Coughlin alone is on trial and he will himself tell the jury his version of the facts and that weaved around him the mesh that came so nearly being twisted into the hangmans rope The Murder ol Dr Cronin Tie crime for which Daniel Coughlin again trial was the murder or Dr P H
