AB 653-3844 KIRK BARBARA KIRK passed away in Lethbridge Saturday February 14 2004 at the age ol 41 years a victim of a rare form ol lung cancer which attacks young non-smoking women Barb was born in Pincher Creek the youngest child of Garth and Joan Turcott and sister to Brian and Gary Turcott She received her early education there and went on lo the U of L where she received a degree in biology However travel was her first love beginning at the age 14 when she went alone to Iceland for 3 months lo Irace her Icelandic heritage Subsequent travels took her all over the world but her favorite area was the Middle East where she worked as an archaeologist on a kibbutz in Israel for 2 summers She continued her work in archaeology in Canada until met the man of dreams Cameron Kirk Barb and Cam were married in 1990 and bought a small ranch in the district west of Fort Macleod where their 2 daughters Molly now 12 and Gabrielle now 9 experienced the joys of rural life The river bottom was a favorite haunt of the family and they all spent many wonderful hours exploring the natural wonders along the river The ranch was sold in 2001 when they moved into Fort Macleod Barb was a trustee lor the Livingstone Range School Division where she held position of vice chairman Barb worked at the Fort Museum as the Collections Manager and she developed a keep interest in the history of the Fort Macleod area Prior to that she served on the board of the Friends of Jump Barb was extremely artistic with copper sculpture being her main medium Her art form was most unique and she had great success showing and marketing her work in Alberta Montana and Arizona A memorial service will be held Friday February 20 2004 her birthday at the United Church in Fort Macleod at 2 pm NILE DOROTHY EILEEN MRS DOROTHY E NILE of beloved wife of Don Nile passed away peacefully on February 14 at the General Hospital at the age ol 81 years She was rarn and raised in on August 28 1922 Besides her loving husband
