of Lebanon undr the Act ef March 3 1879 68 CENTS Vote Today Nixon Launches Final Effort For Support On SST WASHINGTON AP Wavering and mitted senators were the target of a White House blitz today as the Senate prepared to decide the fate of the supersonic transport plane White House press secretary Ronald L Ziegler said President Nixon would be telephoning certain senators in advance of todays crucial vote considered a tossup in the final hours Nine senators were considered uncommitted School Unit Board Approves Proposed Budget A proposed budget of for the Intermediate Unit was approved Tuesday night by the Inter mediate Unit Board The unit will take over the functions of both county school offices July 1 Currently is what is to be allocated from the state This money will be used for the general operating functions which also includes Dr Harry K Gerlachs salary of Dr Gerlach is the executive director of the unit Revenue from federal sources is set at However Dr Gerlach said there is no assurance the money will be forthcoming The money with which the unit will be operating during the first year will be coming from the state Dr Gerlach Indicated Included in the budget It from incoming transfers for the operation of the film library located at Miners villa State College That money Will come from those school districts in a area which participate in the film library service The unit wil administer the library to serve five counties which include Lancaster and Lebanon Under administration set aside while is pegged for various programs Dr Gerlach explained that some of the following planned pro grams and positions will not come into existence unless the need arises He also noted that once the need arises and the position is filled the position could be vacated when the characteristics of the six Lebanon County public school districts The sillily was recently sub milled by Ihe subcommittee of the Lebanon County Com munity Councils education In what respect is the elementary curriculum in the six public school districts in Lebanon County most commendable According to a survey taken of district superin other school administrators and teachers the key word is flexibility The survey revealed that the elementary curriculum aims to serve individual needs of the child On the other side of the coin the report revealed that the need for improvement in the curriculum is fourfold coordination of programs bo tween elementary and second ary schools basic program guide for all curricular areas better physical facilities and more resource materials avail
